Thesis Brainstorming

I started sketching out some clothing idea relating to my own personal logo. I thought of making it a small colorful branch relating to my identity package colors and logo. This branch would only be a part of other branches relating to the larger overall brand. I call this particular branch "gatinha" which means little female cat in Portuguese or slang for pretty girl. My senior thesis at Ringling College of Art and Design will be on apparel/fashion branding. I plan on designing and vectoring fashion flats then moving on to patterns and textures. Sort of like what I already did with my floral and pastry pajama sets. Only this time I'd like to expand on the cuts of the clothes too.

These are just some brainstorm ideas. So far I like the leggings and the dress I did a little fashion illustration of. I'd also like to experiment with accessory design.

Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :)

An editorial illustration I made using Photoshop to go along with a poem. Might still do some touch ups after a critique but for now I'm fairly satisfied with it.

A look into my sketchbook Part 2

My adorable friend Natalie;

A little fashion illustration I sketched out for fun;

Thumbnails and ideas for my La Musica Poster. Here you can see the evolution;

Playing with vivid primary colors;

I liked the roses I designed for the La Musica poster so I continued exploring them for a pattern. They eventually evolved into the floral clothing pattern I made for pajama designs;

Starting to get more interested in fashion design so here's the beginning of that;

A look into my sketchbook

I thought it might be fun to upload some of my watercolor sketchbook pages. Its a nice way to see how I work outside of the digital realm and when I'm just being myself on paper. Also, yes I do number my pages. Its just a habit I picked up from doing IB Art in high school (International Baccalaureate). I suppose I just like keeping track of my own progress. Anyway, please enjoy;

Apparel and Pattern Design - Pastries

After my floral experiment I decided to try my hand at rendering a more complex pattern for my vector fashion flats to create something new. I started by rendering some French inspired pastries with a soft yet vibrant palette;

Next I arranged them into a pattern, as it was my first time making a proper pattern it took awhile measuring out spacing to create something that could be repeated seamlessly;

With the feminine flavor of the pattern, I started by placing it on a nightgown/dress flat and it turned out quite successful;
Next I decided to see what it would look like on pajamas, using the vector flats I previously used for my floral designs. I put some fun type on the back of the shirts that say "La Patissiere" or the Pastry Chef (in its feminine form);

Apparel and Pattern Design - Florals

I recently have expanded my interests in concept art into fashion illustration and now apparel and pattern design. When Abercrombie & Fitch visited my college campus (Ringling College of Art and Design) I began working on floral designs for feminine shirts and pajama pants for their branch brand, Gilly Hicks.

I began by painting some hybrid-esque roses in 4 different colors.

Once that was finished, I saved each flower as a png. and brought them over into illustrator and starting having some fun with designs and patterns. But to place them on clothing I vectored some fashion flats to show the style of clothing I was going for. For example here are two sets of pajamas I designed front and back;

Following are front and back models of the feminine shirts I designed;

And finally a couple of pajama pants that go with some of the shirts;

Portraits + Fashion

My finished senior self-portrait (though I might make another one);

original fashion/food illustration, is it appealing?

Personal piece, playing around with technique and pattern. Model is my friend Alessandra Kertzer who was kind enough to let me use a fabulous photo of her as reference;

A couple of WIP

Here is my work in progress Senior self-portrait. Still have to work out the background (which is an airport scene with an airplane taking off in my sketch) and then vector it.

Here is an independent fashion-y piece I'm working on. Still have to add all the items on the table (that thing that looks like a yellow block at the moment) and finish the figure's rendering;

Bedroom Environment

Here is the first completed piece in a series of environments I created for a fictional cartoon series entitled "The Piggletons". Following that I also added the sketch.

Exploring emotions in acrylic

One of the few traditional pieces I really enjoyed creating, followed by a couple of detail shots;
